Julian “Coach Jewel” Harrison
Julian “Coach Jewel” Harrison is a passionate and dedicated Jiu Jitsu practitioner and instructor with a lifelong commitment to learning, competing, and teaching the art. His journey has taken him across the globe — including Paris and São Paulo, Brazil — where he’s not only competed but stood on top of the podium at major events.
Coach Jewel has earned Gold Medals at IBJJF PANs, European Championships, and the Brasileiro, along with a Silver Medal at IBJJF Vegas and multiple regional titles on the NewBreed and NAGA circuits. His competition success reflects the same technical precision and grit he teaches every day on the mats.
Featured in VoyageRaleigh for his leadership and impact, Coach Jewel created Jewel Jiu Jitsu Academy as a place “where people of all ages could build confidence, discipline, and real Jiu Jitsu skill” — not just a room to roll in. That vision has grown into a family-first, competition-ready academy proudly serving Fayetteville, Fort Liberty, and Hope Mills.
As part of the Diego Ramalho affiliation, Coach Jewel brings world-class systems and strategy to his students, giving them access to elite-level training and competition structure. He’s known for breaking down high-level positions like over-under passing, half guard, passing to mount, paper-cutter and canto chokes, adapting each to fit any body type or skill level.
What sets him apart is his ability to build people, not just fighters. From Little Gems (ages 3–5) and Homeschool Movement-Based Therapy to his Kids Pro Class for rising youth competitors, Coach Jewel develops athletes who carry confidence, discipline, and respect — on and off the mats.
